About Gay Pride Shop

We started our business (Make Up Or Break Up Limited) back in 2014. We started out selling festival products, such as glitter, cosmetics, face paint and hair dyes from our shop in Afflecks, Manchester city centre.

Over the years, we started to get fed up with high street shops and online businesses selling items during gay pride, but giving nothing back to our amazing LGBTQ+ community.

While it's amazing that so many companies are visibly gay friendly during pride events (even if we know some only do it for the money), wouldn't it be great if they actually gave back to the LGBTQ+ community and showed their support for the other 51 weeks of the year!

It seems we struck a chord with our community. Since launching, we've grown into the UK's biggest LGBTQ+ store, with almost 4000 items in stock. OK, there's probably more on Amazon if you total all the sellers up, but isn't it better to support independent businesses; the ones that pay their fair share of tax in the UK, or don't dodge their VAT payments by pretending to be a UK seller online, but ship in from the Far East.

We give back to our community 52 weeks of the year. That's why 15% of our profits will also be shared with these 3 amazing charities:

  • The Albert Kennedy Trust - supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people who are homeless, living in a hostile environment or in a housing crisis.
  • The George House Trust - providing HIV support and advice services.
  • Sparkle - The national transgender charity.
